Wow. Some of these reviews are interesting to say the least. I was in the very first group of people that went here back in 2000. I was the 3rd or 4th girl to graduate from the program. I was actually the 3rd girl who was there. They only had the one main building then. The boys were on the second floor and girls on the first and school was on the third floor. At the time, when I was 13, of course I hated it. Now being 32 next week, I look back and know that this was a good place for me to be. I cant give you a whole story about every little detail because that would take forever, but if you want to know more, you can always contact me privately. Yes, I did do things there that landed me in trouble a couple times. I had to be put in detention where I had to sit at a desk in a room with one staff member which seemed like all day but who am I to remember times at 13 being my age now, everything felt like an eternity. And I was always allowed to go to the bathroom, when I needed to. I never was left alone, there always was a staff member very close by. I even was not able to be with my parents overnight when they came to visit when I got in trouble once. I did alot of cleaning as well, but now realize that has had a huge positive impact on my life because my mom never taught me how to clean properly, we always had housekeepers for that. The other thing that has impacted me was the fact that there was a somewhat strict dress code, mainly the shirt thing bothered me. After I got home, I never wore a sleeved shirt again, always wore tank tops. Not saying they had to be long sleeves but had to have some kind of sleeves. Other than that, all positive for me. I loved most of the staff and maybe because we were still small and new, it felt very family like and comforting, met alot of cool people very few though I still keep in contact with. Would earn money like allowance and be able to use it on outings, we went on lots of outings the(I think 9 to 11 months) I was there. When I got out, I did pretty well for about 2 years. Ended up getting into alot of bad stuff from about 16 to 19 but that was totally my fault, would not blame LRA for that at all. I think this place definitely helped me, I think without it I would have died a long time ago. I am now a mother of 2 beautiful girls and doing well. Just thought I would share how it was like way back at the beginning. I have so many more memories but dont want to type a whole memoir. Oh by the way, my name is Lindsay Eisenberg, if it doesnt show.
