National Center for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) earlier known as National Centre for Antarctic and Ocean Research (NCAOR) was established in 1998 and is located in South Goa on SADA plateau by the western edge of Alto Desterro, Mormugao.

It's an autonomous research institution under Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India and looks after the Indian Polar science program on Antarctica, Southern Oceans and Arctic in addition to a few oceanographic programs and glaciological program in himalayas.

It's the nerve centre for the logistics support to the Indian Antarctic Program maintaining two year round research bases Maitri and Bharati in Antarctica.
