After reading a million reviews and seeing many pictures I was very excited to spend time in this resort. Literally within 30 minutes of checking in I returned to the front desk to make arrangements to check out a night early and I could have just left and gone to another hotel I would have. Even though cancellation policy is 24 hours and my last night was more than 24 hours they would not refund my nights stay. I disliked this resort so much I did not care and left early anyway. The tours are garbage. There are so few staff for such a large resort that you end up with little to no service at all. No one will ever answer the front desk phone, there is no room service. The whole place looked like it was very old and just barely kept standing. But after reading it is only roughly 15 years old. It was probably very nice in the first few years but now it in s very run down. The place is overrun by day tour business that get brought in by buses all day everyday. The pool was once very nice and now run down. There were large numbers of people with day passes partying at the pool that were not overnight guests. They were very drunk and controlled most of the pool area. Imagine 40+ people in the pool drinking none stop for hours and never seen to leave the pool other than to get more drinks and never to use a bathroom. You can use your imagination. In the room there was a dehumidifier that was not explained for use and needed to be drained every few hours or the place is impossible to sleep in. The bathroom had mold all over. Which in would not have an issue with being as it is jungle and tropical if I hadnt been spending the kind of money or night that is charged. I went on a full day trip of peacock bass fishing and other than the natural beauty and the amazing canal it was disappointed in the lack luster of the tour guide. I have traveled all over the world, stayed in very nice places and places that cost 6 dollars a night. This place is right on the top 3 of my least favorite places ever in 20 years.
