Seems like when a person reads reviews for BBQ places, often the first thing said is, "Best Around". Well, you won't read those words on this review - even though they're as true as Jesus - because what does "around" mean? Best in town? Gordonsville has a population of about 1600. Of course it's the best in town. Best in the county? The state? Ever? So arbitrary. I want people to actually read what I have to say so I'm not going into all that. What they got going on at this joint is pure MAGIC. Every single thing on the menu, right down to the hushpuppies (ohhhhh, the hushpuppies) has been perfectly engineered by someone who was not only trained to create amazing meals (read Chef), but someone with years of experience doing it and perfecting it along the way. I'm not talking about the type of perfecting Uncle Al practices by not burning his eyebrows off (50% of the time), lighting his gas grill. I'm talking real experimenting and tweaking by someone who knows what he's doing. If you're not one who appreciates the fine aspects of flavor matching and food pairing, I challenge you to eat the BellyQ sandwich down to its middle and then try to explain all it has going on. It's food perfection on a level I'd never be able to approach. Specialty items appear occasionally but the meat of the menu (ha ha) is just good old pork products done amazingly. You can't go wrong with any of it so come back often and try it all. My fav is the BellyQ or the pulled pork sandwich (large, of course) baked beans, fries and hushpuppies, hot pickles, sweet tea and a bacon snickerdoodle or bacon carrot cake for dessert. That's right, they put bacon in their home-made desserts, too.
