I have always been a huge fan of Can Can and frequent the restaurant. Therefore, I planned a birthday lunch for my parents with 12 of us at 2:00 on Saturday. The service was so slow, that two of our attendees who had to leave at 3:15 left without anything but bread because we had not even received appetizers yet. Our waiter was rude and combative (at least until near the end when I brought this to his attention).

When 90 minutes had passed and we had just received our appetizers, I went to the front to complain to the manager (a thin gentleman with brown hair and glasses). I was very quiet and calm about it, remaining professional. Instead of apologizing, he proceeded to share with me that the service was slow because we had more than one course. As I explained, that should not have delayed our receiving our appetizers within almost 90 minutes. Outside of the delay to our meal, I was most disappointed in his lack of management experience in how to deal with a customer complaint (which is not alluding that the customer is at fault for ordering more than one course).

I may go back again, but if my service is not superb, this long standing Richmond restaurant will be off my list. I wonder if the Ripp family knows how things are going there today?
