Currently a guest and not impressed- the least.
We arrived a little early for check-in at about 3. Since you're not allowed to park your own car (first point off for "don't touch my stuff") the valet pointed out to grab what we needed and they'd bring our bags to our rooms later when we had checked in. Luckily we grabbed a bag of swimsuits and went to check in.
At check in we were told we'd get our rooms in twenty minutes.(we were a party of 8 with two rooms booked) Since we were told twenty minutes we figured we'd wait and go to the rooms to get changed for swimming rather than having to deal with changing in the restrooms by the pool.
We got our rooms over an hour later, in fact passed their own check in time; after we went to ask what heck happened.
At the room one of us showered, our bags arrived 45 mins later (!) then we all walked down to the pool. Not an hour later we walked into the room again and someone had already removed the towel used, and added stuff to the room. Things had been moved around. This is when I turned on the do not disturb sign. Why would anyone feel the need to go do "housekeeping service" an HOUR after we'd checked in?
Item two off for "don't touch my stuff".
Now to the room;
Not enough plugs to charge things.
The glass thing between the bathroom and room is not cute. Not one bit.
This is a room with two beds. People that get a room with two beds generally don't care to see the other parties shower etc. A room with a King bed for a couple- maybe.
The most irritating thing about the stupid glass is that if everyone else is sleeping and someone goes to the bathroom; you guessed it: full on light in the whole room. Yeah- not cute.
What else?
Noisy air conditioning in the room.
No possibilty of a little night light.
Back to the hotel:
Warm, smelly hallways in the hotel.
Super pretentious staff.
Dined at the Kauai grill cause nothing else was open, super expensive, food was meh.
Honestly, for these prices I expected soooooo much more.
The biggest dislike had to be the 18% service charge added to the dinner bill. If I want to tip, I'll decide how much. For the unknowing guest, there was an added line to add tip. Just wow. So first they add 18% to the total bill, and then they expect a guest to add tip?
Puhlezzze.
One more night to go, and then I'm hightailing it back to Cali.
Island of Kauai though- love it! 5 stars all the way.
