I have been going to Texas Orthopedics since 2007 ...

I have been going to Texas Orthopedics since 2007 when I needed shoulder surgery that was performed by Dr. Barbara Bergin. I have been back several times since then, but always visited the north location without event.
Recently my wife had a broken elbow and we needed to see an Orthopedic doctor. We went to Texas Orthopedics because they take United Health Care Insurance.
For the first time ever I had a horrible experience!!!!
They demanded 300.00 up front before we could even be seen.
Then they demanded full payment at the end of the visit!!!
WE HAVE INSURANCE!!!
To boot, we are guaranteed a ZERO COPAY through United Health Care.
When I complained that they were not being compliant with the insurance provider's zero copay, they said, "Well we already know what they cover so we demand payment up front."
When I said no, I was pulled into the office managers office and told that I would pay and that they do not bill.
I then produced a bill that they had sent me from a previous visit.
She said that I must have an HRA account and offered to drain that to pay for that day's visit.I said I do but that I have a zero co pay and I will not pay until they run it through my insurance.
They also offered to charge me the remainder of my deductible so that the insurance would "kick in".....meh.
I have since reported them to my Insurance provider
Here is what we would have paid:
300.00 deposit on credit card
150.00 for office visit
750.00 for an MRI
100.00 for RX

Ridiculous!!!

They are blaming Obamacare on their extraction of every last dollar from you wallet.
