I am originally from CO and had been to this sanctuary a few times well i decided to move to NC for a year back in 2015 and there in Wilmington I visited a zoo called Tregembo and couldn t believe the habitat the animals were forced to be in, they all seemed miserable, not to mention you could purchase peanuts to throw in the cages at the animals...I m not making this up people. Well I was reading an article on another company that was recently caught mistreating tigers and it made me think of that zoo in Wilmington so I did a quick google search and found that it got put under a lawsuit for animal abuse due to the bears being in cages the size of a large dog kennel and the zoo lost the lawsuit and the bears, praise the lord! Well guess where they got sent to..this very sanctuary! This place literally is a new life for these animals! I m telling you the zoo in Wilmington made me sick on how small of cages these animals were put in, I m absolutely shocked it s still in business. But I am happy that the bears got out of that situation and now they have all this space to roam and swim when before all they had was a small cage and concrete slab. Absolutely warms my heart! Thank you animal sanctuary!
