Great property... Mediocre staff.

Great property... Mediocre staff.

My wife and I thought long and hard about this summer family getaway, and decided on a 3 night stay at the great Beaches . The kids had a blast... which I guess was the point of it all. However they can do better when it comes on to the staffing.

On the upside, although an older property, it s beautiful and well maintained, with the exception of the elevators. They all need some work... and cooling. Inside of the elevators were stuffy and hot. Everything else was great. The grounds were well maintained and clean at all times and the pools were immaculate. We dined mainly at the main buffet area, which provided decent food and service. They even had a barely visible net to keep out those pesky blackbirds. The French restaurant we went to was near perfect. Service and food were comparable to some of the finer dining experiences either locally or in Paris.

The one real negative was the way some of the workers behaved. On several occasions I was in earshot of them counting down the end of their shift. Whether it be the life guard at the water park saying 5:00 come on nuh man.. caa wait fi 5:00 come , or the random poolside server saying 6:30 where are you... oh 6:30 I need you as she s clearing up used cups. It was so obvious, that at one point I wondered if it was a cry for help. Like I m the free slave visiting a plantation and they were signaling for help. Aside from that... some of the workers were rather raucous and at times short with us. It gave the impression that they weren t happy to serve... which doesn t really feel good as a paying customer.

Now it s definitely not all bad... more than 50% of them were well mannered, pleasant and made the experience worth it. But at Beaches prices.... I need everyone to be like that.
