Had one of the worse experiences with our toddler ...
Had one of the worse experiences with our toddler in the ER. We walked in with a child that had 104.1 temperature, throwing up as we are walking in and completely out of it. They acted as if there was no rush or concern with her symptoms. When we got back to triage, they were more concern about whether she had played with her classmates that day than just getting her admitted. Finally getting back to a room, we had to wait another 30 minutes before the nurse came in to give her an medicine to help with the fever. The doctor on duty I will have to say was not bad, just did not specialize in pediatrics. However, the nurse took forever to do everything. We were told our daughter had an ear infection so they needed to start her on antibiotics. After an hour, the doctor came back in asking if the nurse had been, we informed him no. He stated, "she must have gotten caught up with another patient." Then she came to our room 15 minutes later, saying she had to wait on another nurse to help her with the shots. Another 20 minutes later, she finally came in and I cannot describe to you how completely shocked and upset my husband and I were about how rough they were with our child. Our little one had bruises where the shots were injected into her legs, and they weren't small ones either. Then it took them another 30 minutes to discharge us and there was no reason why we could not have gone home so much earlier. On top of this type of treatment, our child ended up having a horrible case of hand foot and mouth, with her ears being perfect ones we went to her pediatrician the next day. We will not be returning to this ER we will be making the extra trip to Lawnwood unless there is a big change. We moved here from Naples and they had an amazing pediatric ER center, maybe this hospital needs to consider something like this. Sad to see this type of treatment and non caring staff.
