Cris Flessak - Vivajando Review of Ben and Jerry's Factory
Once we parked the car in front of the factory, we...
Once we parked the car in front of the factory, we could already see license plates from at least a dozen different states.
The phrase "open the door" in the ice cream shop that is just in the entrance already makes it clear that fun is what matters here!
When we arrived, we soon went to get information about the factory tour. We were very impressed with the amount of people waiting to do the tour! If you are one of those who bother to take a tour where the guide only focuses on you and maybe some other dingy cats, don't worry about it! In this factory, this will definitely not be the case!
On the day we were there (detail: midweek!), The excursions for the tour were scheduled every 15 minutes due to the amount of people interested.
Even with so many people, we had no difficulty buying the ticket on time. When our time comes, our guide opens the magic door that leads us to a mini theater decorated with hundreds of versions of the ice cream mascot kitty. There we watched a very interactive, cartoon-style institutional video that briefly tells the story of the guys who name the whole thing: Ben and Jerry. The video is fast barely enough time to warm up the couch.
After that we were directed to a glass mezzanine located above the production line. From there we get a glimpse of the fully functioning factory.
From here, the guide details all the stages of production and explains that the factory produces only one flavor each day - on this day the flavor was Stephen Colbert Americone Dream - an ice cream created in honor of the American talk show host - which has vanilla base with pieces of melted waffle and caramel.
This was the flavor we received next in the most delicious part of the tour: the tasting! They serve a sample that unfortunately is not that generous - it is another appetizer for you to feel like consuming $ Mai and Mai $ from the ice cream shop that is right outside!
On the way out to the ice cream parlor, you still see some guys working in a small room. What they do? Simply TASTE ICE CREAMS! Really! They taste every batch of ice cream as an extra step in their strict quality control. Seriously this job should definitely set you up on the list of the best jobs ever!
