Derek Liang Review of Hilton London Metropole

Rooms are small and in dire need of attention; everything from the carpets to the mattress should be replaced. Were it a 3 star I'd still be disappointed, but for a 4 star hotel the rooms are dreadful. I was here for a company event and my colleagues' rooms were no better. Although this is a negative review, the hotel does have its positives. It's located very close to the two Edgware Road stations that will take you into the touristy areas in 15-20 minutes, from Notting Hill to Buckingham Palace. In addition, the hotel features a decent bar on its top floor, from which there's a great view of the city. Hotel staff were also nice to deal with. Overall, I would not have paid to stay here. I don't mind old hotels, I just care that they are well maintained and have a decent mattress. The rooms my colleagues and I stayed in (tower side) were indicative of years of neglect. As I write this, I am staying at the Novotel in Milton Keynes - a 3 star establishment - and this basic room is easily a several tiers above the Hilton London Metropole. It's comparatively huge, much cleaner, and has an excellent mattress. It's clearly newer than the Hilton, however. TL;DR: Find an Airbnb or another hotel in the area. The Landmark is an excellent choice.
