Nearly bought a 2017 Certified Pre-Owned Audi Q7. Pricey, but the salesman vouched that it was in good shape. He showed me the CARFAX which did not indicate any problems. When carefully examining the car, I noticed bits of masking tape left wedged in a seam between the bumper and the grill. I asked about that, and the salesman revealed that the dealership had a local body shop paint the bumper to cover up wear. BUT that bodywork was not disclosed on the CARFAX! When I drove the car, I noted that the steering wheel was not aligned on center. But when I mentioned that to the salesman, he said it was "impossible" that the wheel wasn't in the correct position. Unbelievable!

UPDATE - per the response from the dealership (below), I just want to say that repainting the entire front bumper at an off-site body shop is more than simple detailing. A car being sold as Certified Pre-Owned and near the $40K range, there should be disclosure by the dealership if this kind of body work was needed. I only discovered this by the small bits of left-over masking tape wedged into the seam between the bumper and grill. The salesman was not forthcoming with the details prior to my discovery. Second, I asked the salesman about the wheel not being aligned. He first said it's "impossible." After I pointed out that it's quite possible as we just test-drove the car and it was apparent, he then said that the dealership would not fix this and that's the way it is. When I left the dealership without buying the car, I made it clear to him that the poor level of customer service demonstrated by this issue is what convinced me to not trust nor conduct business with this dealership.
