I've stayed in Atlanta quite a bit over the last few years, sometimes for months at a time. I've stayed away from this hotel due to the fairly low reviews, but decided to give it a shot for a one-night stay. I'm glad I did since it turned out much better than the reviews mentioned.

Midtown Atlanta is fairly hopping - there are a number of great restaurants and bars nearby as well as being fairly close to downtown Atlanta and the number of attractions there. Walking in, it's your standard W feel - dark, semi-clubby, and definitely not your average hotel. I arrived on a Sunday night and there was a decent amount of people in the lobby bar late at night. The check-in process was smooth, I met the friendliest front desk staff I've ever seen and she gave me a great run-down of the property as well as ensured I got a great room.

I got a suite on a fairly high floor with a great view of Atlanta. The elevator up was also nice if you get the outward facing glass-walled one. The room itself was spacious and well appointed but again dark per the standard W feel. It is fairly worn, but not uncomfortably so. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very spacious as well. W always has great bliss bath products and that's something I always look froward to.

The gym is in the basement and has plenty of exercise machines. They're not the most updated but will get the job done (I still like the W Atlanta downtown for gym equipment). There also seemed to be a nice restaurant at the W but didn't get a chance to try it.
