Probably the best family-oriented museum I've ever been to.

This place is just amazing. To start, it is enormous so plan to spend the whole day here as there is a lot to see and do. There are halls dedicated to trains, planes, ships, cars, spacecraft and engines. Plus there's a huge outdoor area with all sorts of equipment for kids (and adults) to use, ranging from ride-on diggers to paddle boats to a working train.

The place is beautifully set up to explore over the course of a day and in addition to all the displays (a lot of which are interactive) there's the planetarium and all types of simulators. If you or your children have any interest in vehicles then you are guaranteed to love this place.

It's located in the Luzern suburbs, an easy drive from Zurich or just about anywhere in central Switzerland. It's not exactly cheap (32 CHF upwards for adults) but it's well worth the cost.
