This is a beautiful hotel especially for Baltimore...

This is a beautiful hotel especially for Baltimore. It's a tucked away retreat on a very busy street overlooking the Baltimore Harbor. We booked the corner suite and enjoyed our staff. The staff was accommodating based on our needs. From the front desk to valet to manager, we were treated with respect.

However, there were a few things that turned us off and unfortunately, we won't be returning. Guests have no real amenities. Every single solitary thing except the fruit water in the lobby and coffee in the room has a cost. While this is OK, to a degree, for the cost of our room, we excepted to receive more perks.

Our room didn't have a microwave (but it had 2 fridges -- makes no sense). Even motels have a microwave! Why have two fridges to store the food, but no microwave to heat it up?! They charged us for 2 waters! While the hotel offers breakfast, that too has a cost. I understand that all guests might not be able to enjoy exclusive perks, but why don't guests in suites get more amenities?!

Also, why have tub masquerading as a jacuzzi when it's not a jacuzzi!? Where were the jacuzzi jets!? We had a non-smoking room, but the bathroom reeked of cigarettes. The room wasn't thoroughly cleaned either because there were child's toys behind the curtains, but there were no kids in our party.

We paid a lot of money for our room and we feel that we received very basic "perks". Guests in suites should be able to get breakfast for 2 included or at a special rate. Also, the valet was $40! I don't understand why guests in suites don't have special rates for perks. There are many ways the Royal Sonesta can improve the customer's experience. After all, it is the hospitality industry.
