UPDATE: After the issue was finally resolved, we have not had any more major issues with our internet service. Bumping this review up to a 3 star.
First of all, my first experience with Direct Communications was very pleasant. Brenda at the office was very nice and super helpful, she even managed to get our installation scheduled a week earlier then they originally thought they could. Installer was very nice and helpful with answering questions. Internet worked pretty good for about a week... and then all the sudden it just stopped working one day. I called the support line when I got home from work that night, and they were very nice and helpful with trying to troubleshoot a few things, in the end they said that the issue was on their side and that they would escalate it to their advanced team to look into the next day. That happened on Wednesday. So Thursday morning I get a call from a support rep, and they tell me that the issue was that my router likely stopped in the middle of a firmware update, and that all I would need to do is factory reset my router and then just make sure the firmware is up to date. I was at work when I got the call so I tried that when I got home, and the internet still wouldn't connect. So I called the support line again, and once again they were nice and helpful, and again said that the issue appeared to be on their end and that an advanced tech will look at it the next day. So the next day(Friday) I get a call from tech support and they said that they know what the issue is and that someone will be out to fix it at 3 that day. So someone came out, and did something with the box outside the house real quick and then left. We then set our router up again, and internet was back on, hooray! We thought all was good and that it would be smooth sailing. But the next day around noon the internet goes out yet again... WHAT THE HECK!!! So we call support again, and the experience was the same as the previous times, in the end they say issue seems to be on their side and that an advanced tech will look into it on Monday when they are back in the office. So we will see how that goes.
I will say that so far every Direct Communications employee that I've interacted with has been very nice, unfortunately their service has just been a horrible experience so far. On Monday when they look into our issue again it will be 5 days that we've been completely without internet, and we've only been with Direct Communications for like 2 weeks. Hopefully once our issue is finally resolved I can give a good update on this review, but at this point I would not recommend this internet service because it's been very unreliable.
