I go on the trail ride every summer, and really enjoy myself! I'm definitely in the beginner category, and felt very comfortable with the staff, training, equipment and horses. I've brought other newbies and they had the same experience. There is a platform where you get on and off the horse, so there is no hoisting of oneself onto the horse, which is nice. Most of the horses are a bit older, so they are slower and not likely to take off running. They are very comfortable with the trail, and make you feel comfortable too. If you are looking for a ride where you gallop, this is not it. This is a slow paced ride that's good for a variety of ride levels, esp beginners. Enjoy! (note this review is in re to the adult trail rides, not the children's camps)
TIPS: It's mostly shaded, but don't forget to bring sunscreen for the areas that are in full sun (thinking face and forearms). I also like to bring a bandana to wear under the helmet. You must wear closed toe shoes and pants, so keep that in mind during the hottest months of summer. It's dangerous to try to use your phone, and it not allowed. So don't even bother bringing it. Just leave your phone locked up in car or trail office during the ride and have the staff members take a photo of you on the horse when you get back from the ride. Make reservations in advance!
