I recently delivered my son here. I was super set ...

I recently delivered my son here. I was super set on Saint Joes due to hearing about the amazing L&D and NICU due to suffering with preterm labor earlier in this pregnancy. On August 30th my water broke and contractions started immediately. My husband dropped me off at the main entrance while he parked the car. As I walk to the doors security pointed to the other entrance. When you re in full blown labor that walk from the main entrance to the emergency entrance feels like miles. My water was dripping with every step as well as it was pretty visible that I was struggling. I make it to the ER when my husband realized that no one had helped yet. We check in with them so he can get a temp check. Still leaking, contracting, and no help. We finally made it upstairs to Triage where we sat for over an hour to get the fluid tested to see if it was actually my water. By the time this was checked I was dilated to a 5 and in horrendous pain screaming for the epidural. We get moved back to the delivery rooms where yet again, there isn t a wheel chair in sight. From here it went down hill, the call light was pressed over 5x begging for a nurse. The anesthesiologist showed up before my IV was put in (Praise Jesus), 4 veins blown we finally got it. Within minutes of the epidural I felt the urge to push. Again, the call button was pushed multiple times. Sure enough my babies head was crowning. Now it s chaos because there s no doctor so my nurse was calling for the charge nurse to deliver my son while telling me to stop pushing. He was born purple with the cord wrapped, his heart rate kept dropping, and he swallowed fluid. I cannot thank Dr. Anna Newman enough. She was calm, caring, and quick. When you see your child born blue it s truly terrifying. The postpartum nurses were amazing. They answered quickly and were always prepared. I m not sure if our room was not ready, but there wasn t any postpartum care/toiletries available. Lactation was also amazing and very helpful. We stayed 24 hours before being released. Yet again, there wasn t any help getting to the car. I m not sure if that floor doesn t have access to more wheel chairs but from a hurting traumatized momma, it would be very beneficial to get some so no more mamas struggle the way I did. I truly do understand nights get busy, but there was nobody there to help me. I m so thankful nothing devastating happened to my rainbow baby that I worked so hard for or myself that night. I had very high expectations for Saint Joseph Hospital, I will not be returning to deliver another peanut here. I hope this helps so Mommies can have a better experience considering we wait so long for that special moment!
