I arrived on August 3,2009 at age 14 1/2 at Logan River academy about 9 years ago. The first couple months were rough but overall I had a great experience here with memories that will last a life time. In August 2010 when I was 15 We went rafting Down a river in Idaho. camping in Moab I can still picture it in my head camping in Moab watching shooting stars at night in the dark sky. We had activities on Saturday off campus activities movie theaters, burger joints, hiking, ice cream shops, buffets, lots of fun off campus activities to do around Logan. As long as you behave yourself and do what was expected of you there was no issues. The cafeteria food was great except for the Italian and Mexican food I didn t care for other than that fine. We had dogs I took care of at LRA. Very sweet chocolate labs we had. Therapy dogs. Saturday and Sunday morning we had talk time wich was games and activities to do. Every one has a pocket radio as a privilege cache valley had a lot of good radio station to choose from.
This is a wonderful place as I remember I could not have been more happyier in my life as I remember it. Until I left I was discharged in 2011 April at age 16. I went home to find out all my old friends at home had forgotten about me and didn t want anything to do with me anymore. My parents literally put a choke collar on me and wouldn t let me leave the yard. I had more freedom at Logan River academy then at home.
I had friends there both staff and students I felt at home there. Now I know some people may disagree with me some people may say that this was the worst thing that ever happened to them. They mabe how I felt about this place at first but after a while you won t wanna leave. As long as you obey and don t break there rules you are perfectly fine. But if you disobey there are consequences class 1 class II You run it s a class V. You get three class twos you trend to a class III. You must go to development to serve it off. Pure discipline
Cannot thank the staff at Logan River Academy enough. Especially Sean Maynard and Matt Erickson my two therapists. Who worked with me till the very end.
