We went to the Perth Mint to sell some gold coins which had no collector's value. Perth Mint staff said they would buy the coins for their gold content. After careful weighing, & examination of purity by cutting the coins, the gold content was assessed at about $2450, but they offered us $2014, a price they sourced in a catalogue dated 2005 - a 14-year-old catalogue! They misled us about paying the current gold price, and that, combined with using a 14 yo catalogue, is infuriating, possibly fraudulent.
