We checked in early afternoon and the staff immediately asked us what time we wanted to eat in their resturant. We had been traveling all day, had yet to even get to our room and it was 1pm. I had no idea about the town or what our evening plans were- when I told her that she was very rude.
Upon arrival to our room (81) the carpet had a huge run in it with fibers all over. Just looked dirty. I showered first and upon getting out- I was looking for the bathrobes but did not find any. Surprise for a 4+ star advertised "small luxury hotel".
The worst part was that at 10pm, people down the hall returned and turned the TV up so loud that you could hear it all the way down the hall. We had plans of getting up early to drive the Ring of Kerry so at 11pm my husband went down to the lobby to ask for a different room. The first reception woman was very plesant and informed us that they did have other rooms and that she would be happy to help but was new and in training and needed to get her mentor to show her how to make the switch in the computer. When her mentor came out and learned of the situation, she explained that we could not be moved because the only rooms available would be "an upgrade". Hmmm ok? She said that she would send the management down to tell them to be quiet.
We did hear the manager come down and knock on the door and tell them to keep it down but it unfortunately was not enough as we could still hear every word all night long as they must have slept with it on.
I expressed all of this to the older male manager (I assume the owner) during check out and was offered an apology, which I appreciated. Again however, I believe that if I come down and ask for a different room at almost midnight- it really is just to be able to sleep. I doubt that any of the extra amenities would be used at that time of day but that was lost on the reception woman. I hope that the young mentee learns her own way of dealing with situations and is not relying on her training as that training will continue to earn them 1 star ratings.
