My husband and I purchased a brand new 2016 Ford Explorer (Limited) in January of this year from Hennessy. We also bought into the Ford Protect program which provides roadside assistance and covers any mechanical issues that happen during ownership. I was shocked when the car stalled out on the side of the road, dropping down from 40 mph to 5 mph with no notice. I called Ford roadside assistance for a tow truck and was told the wait time would be 2 hrs. Although frustrated, I waited the 2 hrs only to call back when noone had arrived. The customer agent told me they made an error and typed in the wrong type of car and I was told a NEW service request had to be entered adding an additional 2 hours to my wait time. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was nothing that they could do. After waiting for 3 hours, I ended up driving it to the dealership myself (while it continued to dangerously stall out 3 times).
Once in the shop, they told me the Throttle Body needed to be replaced and they have been receiving a lot of cars with this same issue. It took over a week to receive the part and then a day to repair. Tim from Hennessy was very nice and did give me daily updates but I'm concerned for other drivers out there who might experience this problem. Luckily, the problem didn't happen to me while I was on the highway. I'm wondering if there needs to be a recall as my car is BRAND NEW. I'm also worried that there are other problems with my car that we don't know about yet. I have a 1 yr old that is always in the car with me so it's very concerning.
