My student loans were recently acquired by UHEAA. Previously for the last 8 years they were owned by a different company and I was in deferment with them, with ZERO issues. Sent in my annual deferment renewal form back in the spring to UHEAA--they said they'd process them, that I might see a couple statements showing that I was in repayment, but that my deferment would be made retroactive, nothing to worry about. It's now 4-5 months later, my loans are still not in deferment, and as of a couple weeks ago, I received a notice from them that I have been reported to national credit agencies. Since receiving that notice, I have called half a dozen times to attempt to resolve the issue--have always opted for the callback option. NEVER ONCE have I received a callback. Currently on hold for 1 hour and 19 minutes (despite a estimate of 14-minute wait time when I called) which has given me time to Google the Better Business Bureau reviews of this place as well as these Google reviews. Totally appalled at the incompetence they're displaying so far, and many others have clearly experienced the same. I'll leave a follow-up review if they ever pickup on this current phone call.
****EDIT
Total wait time before someone answered the phone was 1 hour 46 minutes, total phone call time 2 hours 31 minutes. Insane. The associate who answered the phone sounded about 21, clearly was disorganized, was very unsure about processes and protocols, had to put me on hold about half a dozen times to ask someone else a question or look into something, and in the end, the excuse given for their incompetence in handling the situation I described above was "our fax machine is usually a pretty busy machine, so we may not have gotten it." I've essentially been told to re-fax the form, also to mail it "just in case", and they'll process it within approximately 25 days. They are promising that they will recall the credit agency reporting as errant once the form has been processed. I told them it's funny how in 8 years I never needed to even be on the phone with my previous loan company, just fax in the form annually and everything is taken care of correctly. The only apology the guy could muster was a half-hearted "sorry for the confusion." I'll leave a follow-up review hopefully with good news in about 25 days but for now the terrible terrible customer service is unacceptable and I will lodge a BBB complaint in a month if this is not resolved.
