Pat Merl Review of PGT Industries

My mother bought PGT's high impact windows and she's had nothing but trouble with them since they were installed. They are very difficult to open and more difficult, if not impossible to lock after closing.
The windows come off the track whenever we open and close them. As a result, you cannot lock them because they no longer line up. I have to go over to my mother's house, open the windows and with my brother's help (they are very heavy), we tilt out the window and realign it in the track.
We have not yet contacted PGT, because we've been filing complaints with the "middle man" (a very large company) that sold them to us. They have finally referred us to PGT.
I am contacting PGT after this is posted and I will seek a solution to this problem. Selling defective products and expecting the customer to "deal with it" is not acceptable to me and it's certainly a poor business practice. I will go as far as I need to go to get PGT and the vendor we used to install windows that operate correctly - which is what we paid for!
I will come back a re-post the customer service results I receive here and other places on the web, once I've given the company the opportunity and a reasonable amount of time to resolve this issue.
In the meantime, anyone that is looking into buying the PGT high impact tilt out windows, beware, as it appears that they are inherently defective.
I also think that ratings with details are more valid than ratings without details.
