I stayed here overnight as I was on a business trip. Check in took a little longer than usual. The keys given to me didn t work when I got upstairs (security had to let me in) Usually Hilton Hotels are quite lovely, and so you imagine the surprise when I got to my Queen Room in the newly refurbished Tower Block.
It was so basic, I ve stayed in nicer rooms in budget hotels, like the Moxy or Ibis styles. The room was very basic. The bathroom wasn t great either - one of my towels had a stain.
No dental kit in bathroom. The tea and coffee selection in the room was abysmal.
The TV didn t work properly, and all the channels were mixed up and very random. I was only there overnight, but people who are staying at the hotel for more than a few days, this would probably bother them.
This is a Hilton Hotel, surely the service provided should outdo budget hotels. The room service menu is expensive for not only the type meal, but also the size. I just wanted steak and chips without the mushroom etc but I had to speak to someone at least on two separate occasions to get the order right. I asked for a side salad or something to dress the steak, and they wanted to give me a Caesar salad.
Dinner wasn t great, steak over cooked and peppercorn sauce very water and odd tasting. Chips were raw inside. The vegetables were sandy, not sure if they were washed first. Dessert selections were not food either, and the size of it was soo small.
I m giving this two stars. One for the location and one for breakfast provided.
