My husband and I spent 5 nights, 6 days here. Some of it was great, some was not.
The good:
-The beach area is nice with small huts and nice lounge chairs that can easily be moved into sun or shade.
-A list of activities is given to you on check in. It's also listed on a blackboard at the towel hut and in the main activity room.
-The ping pong and pool tables are fun and the fitness room is clean.
-The staff is amazing. These are some of the nicest people we've ever encountered!
-The massage on the beach (in a clean, relaxing bungalow) was the best massage we have ever had. It was incredible!
-We are vegan and were assured by our travel agent that we could be accommodated. We spoke to Chef Nigel who again assured us that we could have meals every night which was great, but each night we had to speak to whatever chef was on that night (or track him/her down in whichever restaurant was open) to make our request. Each and every meal was this way, but thee meals were very good. The buffet did have some choices for each meal, but by the end of the week I was incredibly tired of eating garbanzo beans and zucchini. Chef Nigel did make us our best meal there, an incredible tofu steak.
The bad:
-The ocean is totally filled with seaweed and has an insane amount of garbage (water bottles, plastic bags, toilet paper, milk crate, playground balls, flip flops, red Solo cups, etc.) is just part of what we saw on the beach and in the ocean. It was gross. I realize the ocean has seaweed, but the amount here on Cable beach is just incredible. It's super thick and hard to swim through.Employees actually rake it up in the morning and bury it, but the ocean is stilled filled with it.
-The coffee is terrible. It's instant - all of it. (The Starbucks at Baha Mar next door saved us.)
-The rooms are fine, but like many have said are outdated and sparse. Although the bathrooms and rooms are cleaned as best as they can be, it's so outdated that the shower had filthy grout and was pretty gross.
-The room has nothing welcoming in it and is not a great place to relax at night. There are random couches in the building, but there are no areas that are relaxing.
-Funky D and the Summer Breeze band plays nearly every night. They are super loud and aren't very good. Instead of fun island music, they play a lot of poor renditions of American music.
-As a couple, we were looking to relax on the beach, but there are so many people trying to sell things (snorkeling, glass bottom boat tours, necklaces, conch shells, T-shirts, hair braiding, Ski-Doo rides, island tours, Cuban cigars) it was really hard to relax. Each day there was easily 10-15 people approaching us throughout the day to sell us things on the beach. Pretending to sleep or ignore them just made them yell louder or follow you on the beach. Most did take a "No thank you" and moved along, some would ask several times. It would just be nice to rest without being propositioned every few minutes.
-There is loud music playing in the pool/beach area all day. This is a resort for young adults in their 20's who just want a party beach. This is not a resort for adult who want to relax in comfort.
-There are no easily accessible bathrooms near the beach. You have to go into the main hotel or use the incredibly dirty/unkept unisex bathroom near the rockwall.
We would not stay here again, but would recommend it to college spring breakers. The staff were incredible, the beach (minus the garbage and seaweed) and views are gorgeous but this resort just isn't for us.
