Carmen Kelley Review of AMCOL Systems

This company violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act over a $26 bill. LEGALLY, any collection agency is required BY LAW to contact you in writing so the consumer has the opportunity to verify the debt. The have to tell you who the original creditor is, the amount of the debt etc. The consumer has thirty days to respond to the collection agency's verification of debt letter. I never received a letter from them.
I did receive an alert on my credit report that a collection had been added. In that little stunt they violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. When companies do this consumers need to be aware of their rights. Consumers and sue the company for the legal violations AND defamation of character if the negative impact on your credit report prevents you from getting a job, or getting a mortgage.
Know your rights people! Do not let companies like AMCOL Systems Inc. ruin your credit report.
****Update**** June 18, 2018
Apparently somebody at AMCOL reads Google reviews! Within two weeks of my original post, this company was deleted from my credit reports. I never got around to sending them a letter directly (which saved me the fee to send it via certified mail). I guess they wisely decided, after review of their records and their failure to follow the law, it was in their best interest to remove the information from my credit reports.
Again, educate yourself about your consumer rights. Don't bury your head in the sand about debt. It opens the door to companies like this destroying your credit illegally.
