20 years ago I saw the Mark Morris Dance Company at the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University. I was just a young freshman and probably didn't know that much about dance and hated it. I think that this was so long ago that Mark Morris actually danced with the group.
Fast forward to 20 years and I am in Sydney Australia and they are performing a new piece. I bought a ticket because I really wanted to see Opera House as the behind the scenes tour just really didn't cut it.
Performed in the Sutherland Theatre, which is not the really cool space, already I was disappointed.
That disappointed was quick replaced by a first act of juvenile dancing and ill timing that I have ever seen on a dance stage.
It was so bad that I left at intermission.
And to think I gave up a ticket to a movie at the Sydney Film Festival.
