I have asked Audrey Shecter to remove an uploaded court file off their website because my son had Googled my name and found it. She has done nothing to remove the file. She has written to say "it is matter of public record" which is correct. As CANALLI uploads recent legal court decisions on a regular basis. They, however do not post to open forum websites that can allow for all search engines in the world access to your information by name as Ms.Shecter did. She also has said that "she will take me to court if i do not remove my reveiw from Google. What does it serve to post my court documents to the internet for her. Her need to take me to court instead of removing my documents from the internet. Who is to protect my children's right to privacy or mine. What is the motivation to do so. PIPEDA Governs businesses in Canada on rules to follow on our privacy act. The Law Society governs lawyers to act appropriately and ethically.
I gave this business the courtesy of responding but they did not until I posted on google. I beleive I have the right to have this complaint and I do beleive they will be responsible to the two groups that govern regarding this issue. If she is your or your ex partners family lawyer hopefully they will not upload your files to the Internet as they did with me. Even in divorce you still have children to protect together. Lawyers have a duty to be ethical and responsible with your private matter. Because let's face it even if it's allowed by matter of public record it's up to everyone especially lawyers to be ethical. I'm sure if everyone's lawyer or others started posting private court documents there would be a lot of unhappy clients/parents/children etc. Where does it end.
