Fantastic zoo for everyone, lots of animals to see and get upclose with. It is a big zoo so bring walking shoes. I've visited most zoo's in Australia and the national zoo is up top of the list, the self guided trail in particular means you won't miss anything.

There are 2 cafes now at each end but be aware the rhino gift shopsl selection is very small compared to the main gift shop at the main entrance so if you park at the upper vat park I would advise doing your gift shopping at the main gift shop near the aquarium.

Also be aware some enclosures are very large and animals might be hiding, if you are concerned bring binoculers or camera zoom lenses but this is normal for most of the larger zoos anywhere :)
