Obligatory one star in order to share my review. I write this review from my perspective as a doctoral prepared nurse practitioner, adult/geriatric certified, licensed and practicing, and secondly from the perspective of having both my dear grandparents at this facility. From a professional standpoint, I am profoundly disappointed in the handling of my grandparents care, especially as they were on hospice care and at end of life. The staff wear badges that give them the title of caregiver and I still have no idea what this means. What are their credentials and training? Few ever introduced themselves by name or title so I had no idea what their scope/training was or what was even an appropriate question. Some of the caregivers displayed attitudes / behaviors of inserting themselves between my grandparents and family. Having been an active member of Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association and versed in end of life, this place demonstrated outdated end of life practices and treatments that are not longer evidenced based. Some caregivers seemed to lack basic understanding of the meaning of comfort cares at end of life, and were not knowledgeable about the medications they were administering (atropine and lorazepam). At the time of death, explaining next steps, and handling of possessions was not family centered and made the grieving process tremendously difficult. I have several specific examples of all of this but for the purposes of a general review I have left these out. Also I will note that there were a few staff who are the exception to this review and were wonderful and to them-I am very grateful.
From a personal perspective, 3P seems to pride itself in being a top notch facility. I think it is no different then any other nursing home that isn t as exorbitant in cost. It s a systems level issue and the above professional observations are reflective and indicative of the greed and business aspect of running a skilled nursing facility. We expected better, and I think for the price, my family deserved better. To people who read this and considering placement for yourselves of loved ones-shop around.
