The Alamo Drafthouse is the greatest movie theater chain there is, but the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz is a special location. A classic movie theater that spent a long time as a music venue before turning back into a movie theater, there are only two screens, and their entrances are upstairs. The Alamo Drafthouse usually shows one first run film at the Ritz, but the other films are why you would usually go to the Ritz. At specific times they show horror films, weird films, classic films, and anime, and they often have special events like Master Pancake (where they make fun of the film as it plays) or Movie Parties (where they hand out props to be used at certain points) or Quote-Alongs. Every Alamo Drafthouse has a few of these special screenings and events, but at the Ritz they probably make up more than half of the programming. The Ritz also keeps around several film projectors, including a 70mm projector that they use for screenings on the larger screen of the disproportionately epic films that were actually shot in 70mm.
