My stay had been mostly great and nearly perfect. I love everything about my room. The interior feels modern and up to date.

Foods were also of high quality - truly delicious and reflect the image of Penang as a food haven. The dinner I had was sumptuous and the breakfast I had was scrumptious. The nasi lemak, dear Lord, is the best I have ever had at a hotel.

This hotel is also very generous with its lobby seatings.
Quite a number of chairs and sofas are provided at the lobby unlike most upscale hotels in Malaysia where they make people stand while waiting for their partner/family member check in at the front desk.

My stay would ve otherwise be 100% perfect if not for the arrival process. During check in, there was no introduction about the hotel and its facilities. The lady who handled my check in did not bother to sell the hotel and its facilities to me. Not even a word about amenities provided by the hotel. Based on my experience, front desk personnels do sell their hotel during check in process. If a guest was a regular, they would still reiterate about the facilities and amenities available at the hotel to this guest.

There was also no reaffirmation on the benefits/perks included in the room package selected by me, such as breakfast and late check out.

Besides that, I was not told about the breakfast hours. Here the breakfast ends at 10am, while at some other hotels I have stayed at, breakfast ends at 10.30 or even 11 am. As I was enjoying my breakfast, I saw some guests entering the restaurant for breakfast at 9.40am. I heard they said they were not told about the breakfast hours too.

Apart from that, there was no mentioning about me being a Golden Circle member. Based on my experience with other hotel memberships, they did mention about my membership even when I was a still basic member. They said something like thank you for being our valued member or thank you for choosing to stay with us. This may actually make a guest feels truly appreciated.

Last but not least, there was no Welcome Fruits in my room. I was told a basic member will be given one, but I didn t get any.

All in all, I still enjoyed my stay with Jen Penang.
I am likely to return to Jen Penang if ever happened to be in Penang again. And I would, without a doubt, recommend this hotel to my friends and family members.
