The opera cellar was opened in 1787 in the opera house, the Gustavian Opera House, which Gustav III then erected. For many decades, food service in the rather poorly furnished hall was only an appendage to the beverages. The old "Opris", which the place of everyday life was called, experienced in the 1830s to 1840s its golden age as the mainstay of the actor state, other artists as well as writers and politicians.
