Mary Ann Review of Rimrock Resort Banff

This is a rundown hotel that needs serious upgrades. We opted to stay here for our anniversary because they gave 30% off for frontline workers. We previously booked at a Marriott hotel that was priced the same and much newer - I regret not sticking with that one. Here s our complaint: the room was outdated and in need of repairs. Our AC was not working so our room was 23 degrees - it felt like a desert. We called the front desk twice and they sent an on-site engineer to check our AC. The AC could not be fixed so they offered a portable AC that was very noisy. The portable AC stopped working after half an hour because it was held up by tape on the window. So we got no sleep at all. The only thing giving them the 1 star is that they have great restaurants in the hotel and the engineer they sent up was very nice. You would think they would offer us a new room or a discount for the inconvenience but they didn t. If I m paying over $500 to stay 2 nights at your hotel (that s discounted too!), I m expecting exceptional service. You are supposed to be a top rated hotel and I definitely did not experience that. I ve stayed at budget hotels and I ve had better service and have had nicer facilities. Don t book here unless you have money to throw around and don t mind staying at a mediocre hotel. We have stayed at Fairmont and I recommend that over this hotel - it s old too but at least their AC is working, they have nicer facilities and is well kept. We have also stayed at the Malcom in Canmore if you don t mind being outside of Banff - much newer and great service.
