I was told I needed a biopsy. I paid up front (as they require you to do) with my HRA card. It maxed it out. The doctor said I did NOT need the biopsy, and that I needed to tell the front desk to refund my money. The front desk said I had to call billing. Billing said I had to wait for the insurance to go through to see if I owed ANYHING. I said- I only had an ultrasound on part of the area. They said I had to wait. Aetna paid them (via wire) within a week. I called back and ORMC billing said they still didn't have the insurance cleared. I called the next week and they said that I had to wait another week. My payment was on 1/4, today is 2/1 and I called. I was told by Val (the ORMC person who answered) that she only saw I talked to someone on the 8th. Regardless, she had to put my refund in review before I would get it and it would take 6 - 8 weeks! I said it has been almost a month already. She said well I see it's been since 1/8. I said- so I have to pay up front and my insurance wired you money within a week, but you can't refund my money for three months??? She said she didn't know what to tell me but that's what it was. I am livid. My HRA company wants an itemized bill from me. I tried to tell them what happened, but they said if they don't get something that I will have to send them a check myself or they will send it to collections. Are you kidding me right now.
