On arrival and then reading some reviews my heart sank. I believed I was going to be in for a disappointing spa weekend.
But overall I was pleasantly surprised. It seems that the management have actually listened to what their customers have said and have taken action.
Spa
Facilities here are nothing to write home about here unfortunately. Its basically a swimming pool with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi on the side. They were having trouble with the boiler so the pool and jacuzzi were quite cold and unpleasant. The reception to the spa was also a little chilly and a bit unorganised. If you are looking for a pamper weekend that you would get at a spa resort then maybe this isn t the place for you.
The treatments that we had from the two therapists were outstanding however and deserve recognition. I would even consider coming back here on that alone. So well done to them. We had a facial and Indian head massage and then went on to have an additional pedicure because we did not want it to end!
Food
Hotel food was super. I cannot say how relieved I was. Being a foodie this was important to me. Past reviews suggest otherwise but I can honestly say the food is very very good. I guess its something that may have recently addressed.
Room
The room was very spacious. Some markings on the furniture and bedding were noted but overall me and my Spa partner were very happy. Modern bathroom with shower. Room 24. Would probably request the same room again if I was to visit.

Look out for Wendy in the restaurant. A quirky unique character as hard working as you will ever find a person, like a shire horse. Very good communicator and excellent customer service. Worth singling out.

Overall a very positive experience. Spa reception and facilities could have been better but other than that spot on.
