light house Review of Target World

CUSTOMER SERVICE: You will need to visit this place a dozen times to have one decent to maybe good experience. The employees think that they are Cincinnati's gift to us 2nd Amendment loving citizens. I'm sure they speak to a lot of beginners who are looking to purchase or even hold a firearm for the first time but in my experience most of the sales staff look down on everyone on the opposite side of the counter. And like some of the other reviews state, some of the sales staff don't know their rear end from a hole in the barrel of a gun. I've also seen an employee eating his lunch or dinner while standing behind the counter and on another occasion I was there with my girlfriend and a man who waited on me must have just came in from a smoke brake, reeked like a dirty wet ash tray which made our stomachs turn and we had to say thank you for your time and walked away after just a few minutes. The last time I visited Target World (which will probably be my last) there were maybe five or six potential customers in the store with only one customer at the gun counter besides myself. I was at the .45acp counter bent over looking in the glass. One employee walked by twice and said nothing to me and another walked by once and said nothing and neither were waiting on anyone. They both congregated over by the cash register with another employee where they started to chit-chat.
Back in the winter of 09, I did have a pleasant experience with a counter salesman there who I did purchase an "open box buy" from for an older model Smith that I still carry to this day but he don't work there anymore. Like I said before, one time out of several visits was pleasant.
FIRING RANGE: Dim, dirty, dingy and sometimes shady people renting lanes. I've had a gun pointed at me on two separate occasions (that I know of) not on purpose but by ignorant people who seem to think they are the only single one standing there outdoors in a desolate desert and not a camel in sight for a thousand miles. Any and every gun range is dangerous however Target World should take more precautionary measures for a safer gun range. (e.g. Range Officer, and not an arrogant one like most of their sales staff).
When I purchased my gun there wasn't a local alternative gun range around but I checked out the new POINT BLANK in Blue Ash, OH. I've been there probably five or six times now and they have super friendly & attentive sales staff, a beautiful and clean gun counter, merchandise area and an awesome state of the art shooting range (with a polite range officer) that paces back and forth for our safety. It's such a breath of fresh air after the past few experiences with Target World.
