Zero stars! Poor management, not responsive, unprofessional, unappreciative, rude/condescending customer service...
2015 - we attempted to schedule a showing for 2 weeks with no response. Then instead of offering a proper showing, they suggested we "go inside and take a look" that day as the painters were there.
Throughout our 5 year lease at this house with Belmont:
- Simple maintenance requests took weeks to schedule and unskilled workers were sent (example: mold spot appeared in the ceiling of a hall closet - after a week waiting, he sprayed the spot with something that covered it up? spot reappeared, same guy showed up and sprayed it again... spot reappeared we gave up).
- After Hurricane Irma, it took Belmont several weeks to send someone out for roof repairs and the repairman DROPPED A LARGE TOOL ON MY VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY, SHATTERING THE WINDSHIELD AND DENTING THE HOOD. Belmont took absolutely NO RESPONSIBILITY for the repairman, saying it was the landlord's hire and they had nothing to do with it. I had to deal directly with the repairman, which was an unlicensed ex-roofer that ended up cussing me out and threatening me via text messages. I was only able to collect enough money from him to reimburse the expense of replacing my windshield... as he became unresponsive/changed his phone number when I provided him a quote to repair the dented hood of my car. BEST PART - the same guy, showed up to the house, 1 year later, climbed up on our roof without knocking on the front door, and was fixing shingles. THEY SENT HIM BACK! My fiance approached him, asking him to leave and he started hollering, cussing, threatening him.
- Each year when we contacted Belmont to renew our lease we were met with increases of $100+ to "match market value". We were made to beg and plead, negotiating lower increases every year. (please note that we are very DIY tenants, taking care of most simple maintenance/upkeep items ourselves... we also BUILT THE BACKYARD FENCE upon moving in at our own expense, installed a ceiling fan at our own expense, performed regular power washing of the property, planted/maintained a beautiful front garden at our own expense (removing the abundance of weeds/dead plants that the house had) and after several attempts to acquire paint to match the interior wall colors (Belmont couldn't provide the paint color name) offered to paint the ENTIRE INTERIOR of the house with our own labor and Belmont's reimbursement of supplies). Hence the "unappreciative" nature of the company.
- The rental property listing advertised "two neighborhood pools included in pre-paid HOA fees" but Belmont provided no assistance in acquiring pool keys for our use. We had to visit the neighborhood HOA office to request keys, and upon doing so we were met with shock that we "did not have HOA approval to live there". Belmont did not provide the HOA with our names/info during our application process and the HOA threatened eviction if we did not pass their background check requirements.
- Office staff is rude and dismissive. Any time I needed to call the office (which was very infrequent as DIY tenants), I was met with "I don't have time for you" attitudes. Especially during our move-out process, when I called to ask them to fill out a tenant referral form (simple 4 questions verification form) they gave me a 1 week turn-around and acted like I was asking for a kidney donation!
- Our lease was up at the end of June 2020, and with the global pandemic my fiance was out of work and I was furloughed 50% of my paycheck. We kindly asked for a 1 month extension on our lease as we planned for a move across country and Belmont told us to sign a new 1 year lease or vacate by June 31st. After 5 years of loyalty as tenants (even paying full rent from our savings with no issue during COVID unemployment), Belmont gave us no help.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LEASING COMPANY!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!! Everything in this review is legitimate and accurate.
