Recently I have had a life changing Critical Illness. I have been diagnosed with Vasticular Tachycardia, my heart rhythm was in VT 19 beats in a row for 11 hrs before the Emergency room could get my heart under control. I spent 7 days in Intensive care and have had angiogram surgery, eco cardiogram, Cardiac MRI and every other heart test they can think of. All the specialists tell me that if it happens again I might not make it. The Doctors claim that this is a very Critical Illness. This has put me on medication that will change my life and what, how and where I can do things. I filed a Critical Illness claim with First Canadian Insurance Corporation. They said because I have not had a heart attack they will not cover Critical Illness. Only start a disability claim. I do not need a few months of payments made for me. I need the stress removed from my life so this very critical illness does not happen again.
I understand the exclusions and limitations I only wonder how insurance companies can determine what is a Critical Illness? So please beware before you purchase insurance. If you are healthy, Critical Illness insurance is a waste of time and money. If you have pre existing conditions it would also be useless. Perhaps I can explain better at a later date? For now buyer beware.
