Cory Maran Review of Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Re...

Everything about the Hamanasi far exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a regular treehouse and loved it! Each treehouse is privately tucked away in the jungle, but just steps from the ocean and the main house. The rooms are furnished well, with clean linens and towels, a great shower, his/her sinks, a really comfortable bed, an air conditioner, a cool porch with hammock, and a jug of clean, filtered water that they keep full for you. You even have umbrellas in your room in case it rains, and a shoe cleaning kit if it gets muddy.
The most impressive part was the service. From the time we arrived (before we even checked in), every member of the staff knew us by name, and knew our dietary restrictions. At the restaurant, if the bread or soup or dessert had something in it we couldn't have, they'd bring us a custom one! The servers could all point to things on the menu that we couldn't have because of food sensitivities, but would also be quick to find an alternative. The bartenders knew us by name and remembered our drink preferences. Housekeeping came twice a day and keeps the rooms very clean.
The first day, Hamanasi put a bottle of wine in our room, but we didn't want it right when we got there, so they kept it for us at the wine bar to to have with dinner one night. We only drank two glasses at dinner, so they saved it for us to have the next night!
We did three adventures. Snorkeling, Mayan Ruin tour, and Mayflower hike. We loved them all. The tour guides were all experts and made you really feel like you learned a lot. The guides are also your driver to and from the adventures so you get to know them along the way. All are extremely nice and you can tell they really enjoy working at Hamanasi.
The pool is quaint and overlooks the ocean. The bartenders walk around to see if you want drinks served to you at the pool. They'll even send someone out to knock down coconuts from the tree to serve your drink in a fresh coconut!
For alcoholic beverages that aren't included in your package, prices are reasonable, especially during the daily happy hour from 4-6, during which the kitchen also puts out freshly made bar snacks like empanadas and vegetables.
Our package included a 90 minute couples massage, which we did right on the beach in a private gazebo, and was the best massage we've ever had.
We also liked how easy it was to meet other people at the resort because it's so small and everyone was so friendly.
You will not get wifi except in the main house, and even then it's spotty, so it really helps you disconnect. But if you need it, it's there.
One thing I'll say is that it does get very buggy. You're right in the jungle, so take the long pants and bug spray seriously. But the rooms and restaurant are always well air conditioned, so even in long pants and long sleeves, you'll still be comfortable.
The owners have done a great job with this resort and the staff. We hope to be back!
