I've been to Citizen Public House a few times and overall, am happy with the food and service. The monkfish and the shorts ribs, for instance, are quite good. However, the most recent visit was rather disappointing from both a service and expectation perspective.

My friend and I had specifically chosen CPH for a menu item we're both big fans of. I'd look at the online menu to confirm it was there. However, upon dining, we found out they'd changed their menus (and not recently, either). When we asked the waiter why they'd advertise one thing online, yet not live up to that advertisement, he said they changed menus so often there was no way they'd ever be able to update the website and, basically, blew us off as if our frustration was ridiculous. He told us the menus online are just examples of what they could serve and should be treated as examples only.

For a restaurant of this stature they should have no issues updating the menus on their website to be current. People look at menus when they decide where to go- that's the basic rule of dining. It's completely unfair to the diner, and somewhat deceitful, to misrepresent what you're offering. And if you're going to put a "sample" menu out on the website, you should clearly call that out, which they do not.

My advice to folks looking to dine here: don't trust the online menus to be valid.
