Came in on a late flight to London and had heard about this place in terms of a lovely view. Thinking it to be a good option for both food and a view after a long journey, I made the walk over. Unfortunately, the doorman must have assumed my tired red-eye flight demeanor (though I had changed into appropriate attire) was "drunk" despite not having had a drink in weeks. Apparently if you're a business traveler who is not white and English, you're not allowed. The large bouncer's comments about how "my kind" don't let on that they are more drunk than they seem was really off-putting. It was one of the most offensive experiences I have ever had, and I hope that they are investigated for their impropriety.
I would recommend that you stay away because apparently you're not welcome unless you fit the preconceived notions of whichever bouncer is working. Implicit bias training would seem too subtle for their staff. Explicit bias training would seem more like it. An unfortunate experience overall that I hope management will correct in the future for other patrons. I, for one, cannot imagine ever trying to go back no matter how late my flight gets in.
