After hearing raving reviews about the restaurant at the Chatham Bars Inn I have to say that I was thoroughly disappointed as it was singly my worst dining experience ever. The Waldorf Salad I ordered was comprised mostly of old brown lettuce, so much so that as I piled the limp dead lettuce leaves off to the side I quickly began to wonder what else in the salad was old, and was I possibly being exposed to Salmonella or some other food-born bacteria. I was unable to eat the salad and was very clear with the waiter about the problem who said he would inform the manager. Although the manager eventually arrived to apologize, I was not offered a different salad. When the bill came to the table, the full price of the salad was included in the bill. I quickly followed the manager in to the back kitchen, expressed my absolute discontent, and refused to pay for the salad. Only then was the salad fee removed from the bill.
