A fine restaurant with a beautiful view, Rain provided my group of three with the best meal we have had, not only in Belize but anywhere in a while.
Let's get the negatives out of the way:
- It was a bit warmer than we would have liked
- There were a ton of mosquitoes for a short period right at sunset
- There were clouds on the horizon, somewhat obstructing the end of the sunset
Of course, none of this could be controlled by the excellent staff at Rain. (They even had OFF bug spray for anyone who asked) The staff was very attentive and professional.
On to the meal:
We started with both the Grouper Cakes and the Clams and Mussels a la Champagne and both were excellent. The sauce on the clams was sublime.
For our entrees we enjoyed lobster Thermidor, Bleu Cheese encrusted Filet Mignon and Cashew Encrusted Grouper. All three meals were excellently prepared and delicious.
We finished off the meal with an out of this world carrot cake and coffee.
The entire meal, including cocktails, came in right around $215, which is on the high side for Belize but incredibly inexpensive compared to similar meals in the States.
Before leaving we already decided that if and when we return to Belize, Rain will be one of our must-have stops.
