My son has been at Logan River Academy for 18 months. When we read the reviews, we were very apprehensive about sending him. Fortunately, we had guidance from a placement consultant who places children having problems. Without the assurances from the consultant about LRA, I don t know if we would have sent him there.
During the past 18 months, the staff has been completely helpful with us and very patient with my son, even when he had some serious behavioral issues. I have never felt at any time that his safety was at risk. What I found most reassuring was that the parents that I met at the seminars that LRA offered twice a year felt the same way. Most were also very pleased with the progress that their child had made in the program. My son s 18-month stay is not the norm and he has many difficulties but the staff have really gone out of their way to accommodate him. The academic program also allowed my son to not fall behind which was something very important to both him and my wife and me. Next week my son will be leaving LRA. He still needs some work on managing his behavior but he has made improvements and matured.
Sending your child away from home and placing them in a therapeutic environment is not easy but the extended effort and support that LRA provided my son and my family made a bad situation a little better knowing that we never had to fear for his safety.
