I'm sure that in the main Bristol Royal Infirmary is an excellant Hospital. However, after today's experience there is one area that needs drastic change.

I had an appointment for a CT Scan at 12.15 p.m. My appointment letter stated that I had to be at the Hospital for 11.00 a.m. I duly checked in to the X-Ray Department at 10.55 a.m. And was told where the waiting room was. Two ladies already in the waiting room were getting a bit agitated, as they had been there for quite a while. But one of the staff members explained there had been an emergency. So, I assumed we would be running late. There is a notice on the wall of the waiting room which says that if you're more than 30 minutes late for your appointment then alert the Reception desk.

My appointment was now running 40 minutes late. I asked at Reception if they could find out what was happening, and she phoned through. By now, I had been sitting there for over two hours.

Eventually a nurse came out and asked me to drink a pint of special fluid over the next 45 minutes. Eventually, I was called in for my scan which was now nearly two hours behind time, only to be told that Reception hadn't told them that I had arrived in the first place.

Isn't it about time that a Self Check-In system is installed, similar to what is being used in GP's Surgerys? It would be more efficient and free up staff on Reception desks to help those who aren't able to check themselves in.

Not only did it waste a lot of time, but cost more in parking fees.
