S M Review of Delta Lodge at Kananaskis, Kan...

I found that this luxury hotel was far from hitting the mark.
I had originally booked a 2-queen bed room about a year out from a family wedding that was planned here for Canada Day weekend. I thought my booking was fine and I had no other thoughts about it....until closer to the wedding when more family members started having issues. I decided to call the hotel to double check my booking and ask a couple of questions.
Turns out the hotel changed my booking without notifying me - we were now in a single king bed room, which I never requested. They did change it back on the same phone call when I told them we have 4 people.
They then told me that in a double queen room it s based on double occupancy....but there s room for 4 people..?? She told me I know, but all rooms are based on double occupancy even with 2 beds . Not happy about that, but fine; policy is policy I guess.
Fast forward to the check in day: the other couple staying with us gets there first and the hotel can t find my reservation. Then they say we don t have air conditioning but we put you on the cooler side of the building . It s the end of June and it s warm. The party calls me and tells me this....I call the hotel and tell them I m pregnant and can t sleep without air conditioning. The hotel tells me they ve never had air conditioning but they have tower fans in each room. I insist they move us since I can t sleep in a hot room. They said they ll see what they can do. Got a call 30ish minutes later and they found a room with working air conditioning. Perfect.
They move us before we arrive. The lady at the front took a double hold on my husbands credit card because she couldn t figure out the system. Ok......as long as we don t get charged over our half of the room.
We get to our room (now our second room from the original) and the air conditioner is so loud I m having trouble hearing someone across our room. It s warm, but I assume it s from the air just being turned on shortly before.
We leave for dinner, come back and the room is still awfully warm. We decided to close the window to see if that makes a difference. We leave again and come back a few hours later....the room is now 25 degrees WITH the air conditioner running.
I call the front and they send an engineer on his way. While I m waiting, I m changing into PJs when I faintly hear a noise? Maybe it s the people beside me.....so WHILE I M CHANGING the engineer let s himself into my room. Super unprofessional. He heads over and checks the air conditioner and says yea, it s broken but he can t fix it. He offers to set up a fan by the window.
I call the front desk to tell them that the working air conditioner was broken and it s 25 degrees. They offer to room hop us at 10:45pm to another room with air conditioning. That s far too late and I tell them this room was suppose to have working air so why would I pack everything up and move for the same promise when it could just happen again?
They did cut our room rate in half, but I had to request 3 tower fans to get the room to a tolerable temp.
I also had to request 2 more robes and 2 more towels for our room....even though they had on file that 4 people were staying in that room; $25 per person per night as an extra charge.
Another disappointment was the bedding: a stained fitted mattress cover with a series of top sheets that didn t cover the whole bed. By the morning we were on the mattress cover....which was gross. I told the front desk but they didn t seem to care about it - they just said they d tell housekeeping to reset the bedding for us.
Outside of the hotel there was a lot of construction going on so it kind of took away from the scenery. But if you walk away from the hotel it starts to get a whole lot nicer and the views are beautiful. The breakfast buffet was really good and the restaurant/wedding/housekeeping staff were very nice and attentive.
For the price this hotel is charging, I found my stay very uncomfortable and underwhelming and I would not recommend it to anyone hoping to enjoy the Rockies.
