Outrageously stupid rule, in place since April 201...

Outrageously stupid rule, in place since April 2016, that guests can't bring in their food and drinks, including liquor. You have to purchase everything from their bar, restaurants, & via in-room dining. I'd made my booking in March, & wasn't informed about this nincompoopness & skulduggery. Almost an hour of speaking with my agent (goibibo, also royally unhelpful, I must add) and various people at the hotel wasn't enough to make them see reason. My point was that I wasn t told about this stupid rule: it wasn't mentioned in my hotel booking voucher issued by goibibo, and no one (from the hotel, and from goibibo) cared to call, text, or email me to inform about it. And yet I was expected to comply with the hotel's bizarre rule. One can see that such Tughlaqi decisions need to be conveyed in advance, so people may understand that the hotel is deep in red & desperately needs money by hook or by crook. I have stayed at many properties, including those run by the Taj group, and at no place have I seen such preposterous a rule. Nobody wants to purchase & then throw away their food; I hope this gets into the thick head of the management there.
